Momma said knock you out!

So this year we bought a Wii for the family as our “Family Christmas gift”.

It all started over the long Thanksgiving Holiday. With both Red and I off of work and the kids out of school we tried to find things we could do as a family. We had kid friendly movies & went shopping a time or two, but we found ourselves getting a little bored.

That’s when Ms. Hara said that she missed our old family game nights. See, back before we had the two little ones we would have at least one night a week were we would break out the board games & Ms. Hara and myself would enjoy being beat by Red. Yeah, he always won.

But since having the little ones, we don’t do that anymore. Attila is finally getting to the age where she can understand board games, but Little Bit can’t set still long enough to even roll the dice.

So Red asked, “If we bought a game system, which one would you want?” Without missing a beat Ms. Hara called out, “WII!!”

Next thing I know I’m on ebay bidding on different Wii systems and to my utter amazement I won one. And didn’t have to pay out the nose for it either.

Since the arrival of the Wii the family plays for an hour each night! Each and every night.

The great thing is we are up moving. We get so carried away that at the end of a good tennis match we turn and look at each other, trying to catch our breath and say, “I want a rematch! One more game! You’re going down!”

Of course for the longest time our favorite was bowling. Red, Ms. Hara and I would have 3 game tournaments. Ms. Hara would win & stay on top for a week or so then Red would take her down. Last Friday I bowled a perfect game. YAY! 300! I’m awesome & totally rock!

Wouldn’t you know it. Now Red and Ms. Hara say I’ve ruined bowling for them. “Nobody can beat 300.”

Well cry titty baby.

So now we have moved on to boxing. I’ve had no interest in boxing. When it comes down to fight or flight, I’ll take flight anytime. But Red and Ms. Hara insisted, so I gave in.

Dear Lord! What did I get myself into?

It was fun & exciting and a total workout! I had not planned on that.

First I fought Red. We sparred back and forth. Attila setting on the couch cheering on her dad! “Go daddy, go daddy! YAY!” Little Bit was in my corner. “Get him momma, go go go!”

After three, three round sets, I finally KO’ed the big guy. YAY! I win! I totally rule!

But then Ms. Hara wanted to take on the champ. OK girly, bring it!

She totally kicked my ass.

Maybe I should stick with bowling and playing the fishing game with the little ones.
